    Hey Team!

Everyone that opted into the Check-in Beta v.2 is now activated.

I will monitor this channel closely, making note of all feature enhancement and posting a consolidated response of changes and implementations on a periodic basis. Support questions affecting functionality will be responded to right away.

Thank you once again for being part of the Beta Team! You're helping us make check-in a great experience for churches!

Would it be possible to lock the search field and option bar at the top of the page when one is in the "list mode".  Often it would be more convenient to revert to a search than continue scrolling up or down.  An alphabet column on the right side would also be helpful to quickly move up and down the list.

Here are my few thoughts right now.  I'll be using the interface more tonight.

Are there plans on adding bulk importing of barcodes?  I cannot think of a scenario offhand on how to use barcodes but if someone did use them, I would imagine it could be very tedious having to manually type in each barcode and associate it to a person.

Also, could you add the ability to add a person from the "Add Barcode" interface if the person doesn't exist (similar to contributions)?

I like the new themes.  Are there any plans on allowing custom themes to allow for church branding?  Looks like you only have a background color, an accent color, and a font color.  It would be easy enough to allow people to pick their custom CSS values for each of those areas.

I like the descriptions you have under the event settings for each display mode.  Could some kind of help bubble be placed on the mode screen within the check-in interface with the same explanations?

I noticed in the search and kiosk modes, the search box is centered on the screen until you type something in the box, then it moves up to the top of the viewport.  If you mistype or need to clear the data, you have to now either scroll up or move your mouse up to the top of the viewport to change/re-enter your information.  It would be better to keep it fixed at the top similar to the list mode.

I never noticed this before, but the fullscreen icon looks similar to what I see for barcode scanners.

Since the search box will be used for phone numbers and barcodes, will there be an option to change the text above the search box to say something like "scan your barcode" or something like that?

    Julie,

Do you know if there are supposed to be performance updates in v2?  When I was testing last night, everything seemed a little sluggish.

Wanted to add an idea, for future development. Since most of the users have smartphones, which have cameras, would it be possible to allow to check-in by taking a photo of one or more barcodes?

So for example, in a sunday school classroom setting, we have a board with nametags and when a person walks in they grab their tag and sit down. All the tags that are left on the board should be unchecked-in. So you take a photo of the board, assuming its not a very big board, and the photo gets uploaded to you for processing, you detect barcodes and then provide a selection of people, which then you can either check-in, uncheck-in, or sms or whatever else.

    Does that make sense?

Love the new barcode scanner concept. We bought plain white ID badges off amazon and printed stickers off the dymo software to place on top of the ID badges. I started with 10 badges and added the barcodes into breeze. Works really fast on my i7 laptop but very slow on the child check-in laptops. Will be using tomorrow for all 3 services and we are very excited to shorten our child check-in lines!

    Seth,

Excited to hear how check-in went this morning! Let us know.

    Adam,

Would love to hear more about performance concerns you're seeing. What device are you on and what action are you seeing the slowness?

    Viktork,

Thanks for the additional feature request. We'll keep you posted on updates made.

    Sunday 11-11-2018

All three computers were set on full screen with the new Beta Test Version of Child Check-in: Two self check-in computers and One Visitor Computer. Just to check it out, we purchased a scanner and ID badges off amazon to set up a bar code scanner station (low cost). I quickly designed and printed 10 badges and handed them out today to the families. I picked families with one kid and some families with three kids to test out “check in by family”. We had no problems with them at all. For the rest of the parents, typing in names or phone numbers went just as fast.

Now, earlier this week, we tried the beta test version on our little laptops( HP & Accer) from Walmart and it wouldn’t print at all. It would print on the old version but not the beta. We have had these laptops for about 13 months with no problems. BUT, I realized with a more powerful computer, the tags printed much faster. So this week, I decided to take away the laptops and swap them out with simple desktops that ran i5 HP refurbish.

We will probably continue with the desktops because we saw a increase in  speed and reliability. We Will be running the Beta version this Sunday for our children's Check-in, Youth Check-in and Volunteer Check-in.

We tried to use the beta for 2 of our services yesterday.  It worked fine for the first service, but for the second service, when we tried to select the service, nothing would show up.  I also received reports of the inability to add new people so we had to switch back to the current version.  I was also told that things seemed sluggish yesterday.

We were running the check-in on an iPad Air 2.

Thanks, Julie.  It does look like the horizontal scroll issue still exists on the Add a new Person section of the beta as well.   When I look at the code, the width of the entire area is hardcoded to 3800px.  That width seems to limit you to adding 11 people at one time.

    Adam,

Yes, the "Add Person" function within the new design has been updated to include:

    • Add up to 11 people within a family from the check-in screens (vs. 7 in the original design)
    • Add individuals and family members from the same screen within check-in (vs. individual and family icons when adding a new person)

    Feedback updates to share:

    1. In list mode, allowing for a scroll lock to keep the "search" box and other menu options visible when scrolling.
We've opted to not make changes here in order to optimize screen real estate - especially for those using smaller machines
    2. In "Mode" selection on the check-in screen, adding the descriptions of each mode when you hover over them.
Mode descriptions added in a hover box when selecting from the check-in screen
    3. When filtering by tag on the check-in screens, the attendance # shown gives overall checked in # vs. check-in number by currently filtered tag.
The number at the top of the check-in screen, indicating how many people have been checked in, is now relative to the filter.
    4. Family tag printing errors, printing when it shouldn't have.
      Fixed
    5. Ability to add user-defined colors for the check-in page
For now, we are going to stick with the pre-defined colors as it's a balance of opts and specific color range that works well with readability, etc.

Keep the feedback coming and I'll be sure to keep you posted on updates. Thank you!
