Generating a Birthday List

There are a couple of ways that you can get a list of birthdays in any given month.

Search birthdays from People page

  1. Select the "People" tab from the top left.
  2. On the left, click "Show More Filter Options."
  3. Use the "Birthdate" filter to select the month you're looking for (you can leave the day and year fields set to "Any").
  4. Results will show up on the right.

Export a list of birthdays

  1. Select the "People" tab from the top right.
  2. On the right, select "Export."
  3. Click the pencil icon in the bottom left of the pop-up window.
  4. Change the "Include" dropdown to "Birthdays."
  5. Click Download.

Birthday Notifications

You can also set up email notifications about upcoming birthdays. Here’s a quick video showing you how to easily enable notifications from your user settings.

Excluding the Year on a Birthday

If you have the birth date of an individual but not the year (or don't want to display the year), you can enter the birth year as "0000" which will remove the year field.

This can be used for any "date" field - including anniversaries.

Note: be sure not to click the pop-up calendar after typing "0000" or it will make the year "2000" instead.

  • Love this feature, just wish that we could specify an automated task for any date (anniversary, etc.). Is this maybe in the works?

  • Hey carldwood - great thought!  I know we specifically just rolled out a few automated tasks at the start and we have the intentions to roll out many more as people start using and understanding them better.  I would be very surprised if anniversary does not make the automated tasks list!

  • I would like to generate a birthday (and anniversary) list for anyone born in a particular month but any year.  Is there a way to do that?

  • Go to people, then navigate to birthdays (or anniversaries) on the left side. Hit range, then the month you want. You then have to export & download the list. Export is on the right side of the screen. Export an excel spreadsheet. Then I go into excel, get rid of all the extraneous cells (there are a lot of them!), filter the date in order or the day (1-31) because we pray for people each week and this allows me to easily see who's birthday it is in a given week. Then I copy that list to wherever I need it. It's a PIA, but once you do it a few times, you get used to it. I really wish there was a simpler way, but I haven't found one so far!

  • @vreiffer - @stmartin provided some excellent steps for you! Thanks, @stmartin for that!

You will want to search people and run an advanced search by clicking on "Show More Filter Options" and then selecting the Birthdate Field (or anniversary field). You will then want to click the Date option at the bottom, to change the search parameters, and simply choose what month you are looking for.

Once your results (People who match those search criteria) have populated on the screen you will want to:

    1. Using the Action Panel on the Right, Click Export
    2. Click the pencil icon in the bottom left of the pop-up window.
    3. Change the "Include" dropdown to "Birthdays."
    4. Click Download.

This will save you from having to delete all of the additional Profile Fields that populate with a simple (not customized) Export.

    Hope this helps!

  • We have a notification setup to send us a list of birthdays for the upcoming month, which works great, but I noticed last month it included a person who has a deceased date entered in the system. We have not archived this person yet so that we can send year end statements. How do I keep deceased people from being included on the birthday and anniversary lists?

  • Under tags - Membership, make sure you mark the person as deceased. Then when you filter for birthdays, you can go to "tags does not contain" and check "deceased."

Thanks for reaching out to us today!

The suggested protocol here is go ahead and Archive the Deceased person. After the Archive, the person will no longer appear in your lists, but you will still be able to access a statement for the person even though they are archived! See here: Archiving a Person or Restoring Archived People / Archiving People Things To Know

Let us know if you have any additional questions!

  • Is there a way to keep the year of someone's birthday recorded in their listing but not displayed?

  • @sara

What I would suggest doing here, is recording the actual birthdate (with the year) of the person for your records within the provided field from breeze. However, I would add an additional custom profile field to record just the month and day. I would then make the breeze age field hidden and the secondary birthday field you created to be the only visible field for birthday. See here: Customizing Profile Fields

    Cheers!

  • Thanks. We'll try that!

  • Can the tables be customized/arranged so the marriage date field and the birthday date field, are together, in the "Main" section, please, preferably, under the "Marital status" field? Or is that a customization that can only be done internally, by the coders?

I understand the data gets populated when we run a report, but if I want to look at one particular couple, it's become a matter of training the eye to look for/at a certain area of the page, and that gets problematical if I need to find data very quickly, as is often the case. I end up hitting Ctrl-F and then typing in "anniv" so the cursor will show me where the field is. Sorry to complain about this. But that's one thing that's bugged me for years about Breeze.

My worst experience working with Breeze was my best experience in dealing with our previous CHMS. You guys do an excellent job!
    Thanks for listening!

Absolutely your profile fields can be rearranged! You can rearrange the fields by going to More -> Profile Fields. Then drag and drop the fields you want to be beside each other and save. This change should then reflect on all profiles in Breeze.

    Cheering you on!

  • Is there a way to filter the birthday notification email by Tag? I only want to be notified of those birthday people in my Directory Tag.

  • @libn

Great question! Unfortunately, this is a limitation of the birthday notification. It will simply send you an email notification of all of the upcoming birthdays for the next month in the database. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause you!

Please let us know if there's anything else that we can do to serve you.
