Editing a Giving Transaction

Need to adjust a giving transaction after it's been entered, perhaps to reclassify non-deductible giving as deductible? This article makes it easy, offering a few simple steps to modify donor information, amounts, funds, or dates, including how to navigate from non-deductible to deductible contributions. You can edit the person/donor, the amount, fund(s), method, and date, add or edit notes, or change the batch.

Modify a previously entered giving transaction

  1. Locate the giving transaction you'd like to modify.
  2. Click on the amount given to bring up payment details.
  3. In the bottom left of the payment details window, click the "Edit" button. 
  4. Make your desired changes and click "Save Changes."
This option will only be available if your account has permission to edit contributions.

Modify a previously entered giving transaction given to multiple funds down to one fund:

  1. Locate the giving transaction you'd like to modify.
  2. Click on the amount given to bring up payment details.
  3. In the bottom left of the payment details window, click the "Edit" button. 
  4. Select "Add Additional Funds" and then the "X" next to each fund you want to delete.
  5. Make your desired changes and click "Save Changes." (update the amount given to the funds if deleting funds).
