How to Connect Church Apps and Manage Default Member Roles for Breeze Groups (BETA)

Summary: Learn how to configure the automatic Default Member Role when enabling Breeze Groups and connect an existing Tithely Church App to your Breeze Groups dashboard.

Before You Begin

  • Admin Control Changes: Enabling Groups allows members to add themselves to your people database via the Church App. This means an admin no longer needs to manually intervene at every single step before a new profile is created.

  • Limited Member Role Requirement: Because of this shift in admin control, a restricted Default Member Role must be assigned to safeguard your sensitive data.

  • Data Migration Note: Existing groups previously created in Tithely Groups do not automatically transfer over to Breeze Groups. They must be manually recreated.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Acknowledge the Dashboard Notification when Groups is first turned on.

(Note: This modal explains that members can now add themselves to the database. One user must click to agree to these terms to clear this blocking pop-up for all users in the account).

  2. Verify the auto-assignment in your Default Member Access settings. The system will scan your roles and execute one of two paths:

    • If you already have a role that fits the required limited permissions, the system will automatically apply it.

    • If you do not have a compatible role, the system will auto-generate a secure member role and apply it for you.

  3. Check the agreement box in the confirmation modal during any Church App Purchase Flow (whether buying ad hoc or via a bundle) to acknowledge the creation of this restricted member role.

  4. Review the notification banner at the top of the Groups page to connect your Church App to Breeze Groups:

    • Non-Account Owners: Select the banner prompt to view instructions on contacting your Account Owner to finalize the connection.

    • Account Owners: Click the action button within the banner to authorize the connection between the Tithely Church App and Breeze Groups.

  5. Confirm the connection based on your backend database status:

    • If no groups exist in Tithely, you will instantly receive a "Congratulations, you've connected to Breeze groups" success confirmation.

    • If existing Tithely groups are detected, review the notification screen detailing the steps to manually rebuild that group data within Breeze.

Troubleshooting & FAQs

  • Why is a pop-up banner blocking my team from using Groups? This is a mandatory safety precaution. Because enabling Groups removes the manual admin checkpoint for new signups, the system requires at least one user to review and accept the automated Default Member Role setup before opening up the feature.

  • Can non-account owners connect the Tithely Church App to Breeze Groups? No. While non-account owners can still use all standard functionalities on the Groups page, only the primary Account Owner has the security clearance to link the underlying Tithely database to Breeze Groups.

  • Why didn't my old Tithely groups sync over after I connected? Data does not automatically bridge across the two spaces during this integration. The connection updates where your Church App looks for people records (switching from Tithely People to Breeze People), meaning any pre-existing group structures must be manually recreated in your Breeze dashboard.
