Troubleshooting: Clearing Cookies, Cache, and Updating Your Browser

Encountering glitches while navigating Breeze can often be resolved by clearing your browser's cookies and cache or ensuring your browser is up to date. This article provides a comprehensive walkthrough on how to perform these troubleshooting steps, which can help resolve common issues and improve your Breeze experience.

Potential Causes:

  • Internet Explorer (all versions)
  • Cookies / Cache needing to be cleared
  • Firewall/Network restriction
  • Clicking the browser's 'back' button when running exports (still being tested to confirm)

Why Clear Cookies and Cache?

Clearing your browser's cookies and cache removes stored data that can sometimes cause websites to behave unexpectedly. This data, intended to speed up browsing, can sometimes be the root of various issues if it becomes outdated or corrupt.

Troubleshooting

Stage 1: Device-Specific Check

Check to see if you run into the same problem on a different computer. If it works on a different computer, that's awesome! But we still want it to work on yours, so let's move to stage 2!
If it doesn't work on a second computer, it might be a network hangup (e.g., virus protection, firewall, etc.). If you don't have a firewall or anti-virus protection on your computers, it still might be isolated from the browser.

Stage 2: Ensure Your Browser Is Up-to-Date

Check your browser to ensure it's updated (we prefer using Google Chrome, but support some other browsers as well).

Google Chrome:

  1. Click the three dots in the upper-right corner.
  2. Go to 'Help' > 'About Google Chrome'.
  3. Chrome will automatically check for and install any updates.

Firefox:

  1. Open the menu in the upper-right corner and select 'Help' (question mark icon).
  2. Click 'About Firefox'.
  3. Firefox will check for updates and download them automatically.

Safari (macOS):

  1. Click 'Safari' in the menu bar.
  2. Select 'About Safari'.
  3. Safari updates are included with macOS updates. To update, go to 'System Preferences' > 'Software Update'.

Microsoft Edge:

  1. Click the three dots in the upper-right corner.
  2. Go to 'Help and feedback' > 'About Microsoft Edge'.
  3. Edge will automatically check for updates.

Stage 3: Clear Browser Cookies and Cache

After Updating and Clearing:
Log back into your Breeze account to confirm the functionality has returned to normal.
Should issues persist, disabling browser extensions or checking network settings could be the next steps.
