Summary: Storing prayer requests ensures that your church family feels seen, heard, and cared for. While there are several ways to manage this process, our goal is to make it as "breezy" as possible! Depending on your unique ministry needs, here are our top three recommendations for gathering and storing prayer requests within your database.
1. Using Profile Notes (Historical Record-Keeping)
If your primary goal is historical record-keeping, utilizing the Notes feature within an individual’s profile is a fantastic choice.
As you gather information about a particular request, simply navigate to the individual’s profile, select Notes, and add a detailed entry.
You have full control over privacy—you can set the permissions so the note is visible only to the staff member who added it, or make it visible to the member themselves.
2. Using Forms (Self-Service Gathering)
Forms are highly customizable and offer a perfect, centralized way to gather incoming requests from your congregation.
Creating a dedicated “Prayer Request” form gives your members a set place to provide specific information on their own time.
Instead of waiting to call the church office during business hours, individuals can submit an urgent request online, and your ministry team can receive an email notification right away.
Tip: You can easily embed this form on your website or link it in your weekly digital newsletter!
3. Using Custom Profile Fields (Direct Profile Tracking)
If you want a highly visible snapshot of a person's current needs the moment you open their database record, consider using custom fields.
You can create a brand new, dedicated "Prayer Requests" section within your profile layout.
Add a corresponding text area profile field to actively track, update, and manage ongoing prayer needs for that specific person.
