Change the Account Owner for a Breeze Connected Account

Summary: This guide explains how to seamlessly change the Account Owner in a Breeze connected account. It details the required steps to complete an Account Owner swap now that Admins are hosted under Tithely.

Before You Begin

To ensure a smooth transition, this process requires actions from both the current Account Owner and the new Admin.
  • You must be logged in as the current Account Owner to initiate the final swap.
  • The new Account Owner must first be granted Admin permissions in Breeze.
  • The new Admin must connect their Breeze account to Tithely. Without this, the system will return the error: "Account Owner change only possible with connected account".

Step-by-Step Instructions

Part 1: Grant Admin Access (Performed by Current Account Owner)
  1. Log In to Breeze as the current Account Owner.
  2. Select the Settings icon at the top right corner.
  3. Select Users & Roles.

  4. Click Add User to create a new profile, or click the Edit Pencil next to an existing user's Role to make the person you want as your new Account Owner an Admin.
Part 2: Connect the Accounts (Performed by New Admin)
  1. Log In to Breeze as the new Admin User.
  2. Navigate to Settings > Manage Account > Bills and Payments > Tithely Billing.
This will send a confirmation code to the new Admin's email and open them into the Tithely Account. Their account is now officially connected!
Part 3: Swap the Account Owner (Performed by Current Account Owner)
  1. Log In to Breeze again as the current Account Owner.
  2. Navigate to Settings > Manage Account > Bills and Payments > Tithely Billing.
  3. Select the Global Settings icon at the top right-hand corner.
  4. Select My Organization.
  5. Select Admin Users.
  6. Select the Gear Icon next to the user you would like to make the new Account Owner.
  7. Select Edit Permissions.
  8. Change the User Role to Account Owner.
  9. Review the account change pop-up explaining the transition and click Continue.
  10. Add a new Billing Method that will be charged moving forward.
Note: This step is necessary even if the new account has no active, paid subscriptions.
  11. Update the Legal Representative if needed, or simply skip this step if unnecessary.
Note: For multi-location churches, this will only update the Legal Representative for the oldest location you created in Tithely.
  12. Confirm the Account Owner changes.
Once confirmed, the new Account Owner will receive an email confirming the change, and the old Account Owner will receive an email stating they are no longer the Account Owner.

Troubleshooting & FAQs

  • I'm getting an "Account Owner change only possible with connected account" error. What do I do?
This means the new Admin has not yet connected their profile to Tithely. Have the new Admin log into Breeze and navigate to Settings > Manage Account > Bills and Payments > Tithely Billing to establish the connection before you attempt the swap again.
  • Do I have to enter a new billing method if we don't have any paid subscriptions?
Yes. A valid billing method must be added during the transfer process to move forward, regardless of your current subscription status.
