Online Giving Setup

Breeze allows people to donate to your church and automatically records their giving. Donors do not need to have a Breeze account to give to your church.

Setting up Online Giving

  1. Navigate to "More" > "Contributions" > "Online Giving."
  2. Click "Enable online giving."
  3. The next step in getting your online giving page setup is to provide us with the bank account information for which you'd like to receive transfers. To do this, you can follow these steps:

    • Click "Provide Bank Account Information" on the red banner
    • Enter your Routing Number and Account Number
    • Click "Add Account"
  4. After adding your bank account, you'll need to submit verification of your identity. This information is entered into and stored securely by our payment processor, Stripe. To provide this information follow these steps:

    • Click "Proceed to Provide Information" via the pop-up.
    • Follow the instructions to answer a few questions about your church, and provide information on an account representative. 

After that, you'll be all set up to begin using Online Giving and Text Giving with Breeze! 

You can Customize Your Online Giving Page, set up Giving by Text and then share your online giving page with donors across multiple platforms! 

Note, you will not be able to receive payments until you have verified your identity. It is recommended to not use Internet Explorer here, as a lot of churches are not able to input bank information with that browser.


Additional Information on Verification

I am being redirected to an outside page, is this correct?

Yes. When you click to provide your information, you will be redirected to a new tab to update/provide/verify your information. You should land on a page that looks similar to this: Image_2020-02-26_at_2.51.04_PM.png


Why am I being asked for information about who owns and manages my company?

In certain countries, we are required to collect, verify, and maintain information about a company’s owners or directors. These requirements come from government regulators and help promote transparency and prevent financial crimes.

What if I need to change the information I've submitted?

If your identity has already been verified you will see a "Identify Verified" notification at the top right of your Online Giving section. If you either need to update the information that was submitted or change the account representative on file, you can do so by clicking "update". 


The verification process seems to be taking a long time - is this normal?

You may notice that it could take some time for the verification process to be completed all the way. Normally, this only takes 24-48 hours, but depending on the review process, you may be asked to re-enter your details - if it's not able to be verified. See below for two reasons why it could be taking a bit longer.

Why is it asking me for the same information I've already provided - didn't it verify it already?

We are noticing that sometimes the EIN isn't staying verified even after it looks like it's been accepted. If this is happening, you will want to ensure that the Legal Business Name (or entity name) matches exactly what you have on your SS-4 or 147C forms. The verification process looks to match up the EIN with the Legal Business Name (or entity name) with the IRS records - if they don't match, it doesn't verify properly - and you'll be asked to enter the information again. When you enter the information, make sure that you include everything that comes before the "Street Address" and enter it in all caps, to match the IRS records. 

If you need a copy of your Letter 147C, you can do so by calling the IRS Business & Specialty Tax Line toll free at 1-800-829-4933.

Will a new EIN prevent me from being verified?

If you just filed as a new non-profit, or have requested your EIN number to be changed, you may notice that your EIN isn't being verified. Don't worry - we can help! Just email us a copy of your SS-4 or 147C forms, and we can ensure that it gets to the right people who can help get that squared away!

  • Is there a way to use a chip reader/cc swiper with this?

    We currently do not support chip readers. However we integrate with a variety of third-party integrations who act as the backbone for kiosk giving, giving via text, and online giving. To setup this giving:

    1. Go to More > Contributions > Online Giving
    2. At the bottom of the page, click "Switch to our third party giving page."
    3. Choose a provider for each type of Online Giving and fill out the associated fields to connect the third-party provider with Breeze



  • We are looking at using the Breeze online giving for a school fundraiser. Is there a way to print donation receipts or statements for people who donate and are NOT members of our school/parish (ie. Breeze members)? Also, we currently track which student the donation is given  towards (they have individual goals to reach) - can the embedded donation link be customized? I thought of simply making a form to gather this info and the donation "payment" but couldn't see an easy way to print a receipt off it.

    Great question! Happy to help! Yes! Anyone who donates can receive a receipt/statement. You can also customize the link. With Forms you can have the receipt sent via email with all the payment information included.

  • Hi there, is there a way to order how the funds appear when a person chooses online giving? For example I have funds such as Anniversary, Building Fund, Offering and Tithe. I seems as though the list is in alphabetical order and I'd like the ability to move funds like Offering and Tithe closer to the top rather than at the end. Is there a way to do that?

    Thanks for reaching out to the forum! The best way to order how the funds appear is to do it by number. In other words a fund would be represented with a number first, for example:

    • 1 - General Fund
    • 2 - Anniversary
    • etc

  • I have a question about mobile online giving. At this time, at least on apple phones/iOS, there is no indication for various FUNDS options to click on the Onlione Giving page, unless you know you have to do it so we are getting payments from people for funds different than they want to give to, bc they have no idea they have to click on the name of the fund to see other funds names to appear. 

    Do you have plans to change it? It is frustrating to have to check manually every donation to make sure it goes to the appropriate fund.

    We certainly appreciate your feedback! At this time, there are no plans to change Online Giving unless there were a tremendous push from our customer base. We certainly apologize for any inconvenience that they are experiencing while giving. Our best practice here, would be to customize the Page Content verbiage on your Giving page to explain what you would desire for them to do. See here: Customizing Your Online Giving Page

  • I am the church's webmaster.  We are ready to activate online giving, but, I don't see the "contributions" tab under the "more" label.  What level of access do I need in order to accomplish this?

  • @debbiestankovich Great question! You'd need the ability to access Contributions and Online Giving Management in order to see Contributions and online giving. You'll want to contact your church's main Breeze admin so they can update your role. 

  • Do Breeze or Stripe take any percentage of the online giving as a processing fee, or does it all go to the church?

  • Does Breeze Text giving/Online Giving tracking allow us to add in-person giving so we can keep all giving records in one place?


  • Hey @info! Great question here! You can keep track of in-person donations by using our Add Contributions feature! You'll be able to pull both Online Giving and In Person gifts in Contribution Reports.

  • Can we cancel this arrangement (stop taking electronic payments) at any time?  If so, How?  If not, what are prerequisite requirements for canceling electronic payments?

    Thanks for reaching out! You can turn off your online giving page at anytime. You simply can disable the weblink.

    1. Navigate to "More" > "Contributions" > "Online Giving."1
    2. Click the "Settings" button in the "Web Giving Box" in the center-left of the page.
    3. Scroll to the bottom to Disable Web Giving
    4. Make your changes and click "Save."

  • Our finance committee would like to only show gift frequency options of One-Time, Monthly, and Yearly. Is there a way to do that? Thanks!

  • @mmcmullen Great question! As it turns out, there is not a way to limit the frequency options. You can set up a specific giving page URL that defaults to a specific frequency, but donors would still have the option of choosing another frequency. 

  • We're taking people off Vanco and I've been entering them into Breeze giving from our Give Now button on our website.  So far, I've gotten notices on two different people that the recurring gifts have failed and that the recurring gift has been cancelled.  Due to "not being able to withdraw funds from ... bank account." 

    Do you know why these gifts are failing?

    Thanks for asking about this! You can choose the "default fund" that you would like to appear first on the list when setting up the Online Giving Settings . However, you are correct in that the rest of the funds will appear in alphabetical order. There is not a way to change this at this time, however, I will share your idea of having the ability to do this with the team! 

  • If we already use Stripe outside of Breeze does that make it easier or more difficult to switch to the online giving platform within Breeze?

    When you enable Breeze Online Giving and set it up, you will be making a new Stripe account unique to our relationship with Stripe. We in turn will work with Stripe on reporting, disputes and other technical items to make sure you have the easiest-Breeziest experience with Online Giving. If you need help moving giving data from Stripe, we provide a complimentary move-in service! 


  • How do we change bank account info in Breeze.

  • Hey @digital!

    That's an important question to know the answer to! I would love to help! To change the bank account for your online giving transfers:

    1. Navigate to the "More" drown-down and select "Contributions".
    2. Select "Online Giving" on the left toolbar
    3. In the top Next Transfer Box (at the top of the screen), it will state "$XXX (amount) will transfer to BANK ACCOUNT (ending in XXXX) on Date (change)". Hit the word (change).
    On the Transfer to Bank Account box click "Add or Remove Bank Account"
    On the Manage Bank Accounts box you can input new bank information (account and routing number) and "Add Accountor use the "Remove Accounts" link in the bottom left to remove an old bank account.

  • Hi, is there any way to 1. enable twice yearly and quarterly giving?  We have some parishioners who prefer these options, and 2. a way to allow parishioners to make a payment but schedule it for a future date, so that they could schedule a July payment even tho its January.  Thanks so much!

  • Hi @pamhurd! I'm glad you asked. As there's not an option to enable these extra giving frequencies, you could recommend that your parishioners set up individual gifts on the "Yearly" cycle, and schedule them out for the future (ex. Jan 1, Apr 1, Jul 1, Oct 1)

    As stated above, there is the option to schedule out in advance so that they could do a custom frequency cycle of their choosing. Try going to your Online Giving page and schedule a recurring gift. You should be prompted to additionally put in a future date, or you can leave it to "Starting Today."
