Getting Started with Tags

Tags help you organize and communicate with people. Group people by children's ministry classrooms, Men's Ministry classrooms, small groups, and more. Give permissions to your ministry and group leaders empowering them to update class rosters in real-time adding or deleting people, handle group communication by email and text and print class directories all by utilizing tags!

Adding a New Tag

  1. To add a new Tag Select the Tags tab from the top.
  2. Navigate to the folder in which you desire to place the tag.
  3. Click the Add New Tag button.
  4. Give the Tag a name and click Create.

Moving Tags into Different Folders

To move tags into folders or move tag folders into different folders (creating subfolders):

  1. Select the Tags tab from the top right.
  2. Navigate to the folder containing the tag or folder you wish to move.
  3. Click and drag the tag or folder name to the folder where you'd like to move it and release the mouse to drop it in.

Deleting Tags

  1. Select the Tags tab from the top right.
  2. Navigate to the folder containing the tag you wish to delete.
  3. Hover over the tag you wish to delete. On the right, an (x) icon will appear. Click on that icon and then select the delete button.
  4. Alternatively, you can click the tag name to open it.  Then click Delete Tag on the left.
If you unintentionally delete a tag, restores can be done for up to 30 days.  See our section onrecovering deleted data for more information.

Adding People to Tags

To assign an individual person or multiple people to a tag:

  1. Select the Tags tab from the top right.
  2. Navigate to the folder containing the tag and click the tag.
  3. On the right, click Add People to Tag.
  4. Begin typing the person's name. The name will appear in a dropdown list.
  5. Select the person's name.
  6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 until everyone you'd like to add has been selected, then click Add.

Remove People from Tags (Unassign)

 To unassign a tag or tags from a specific person:

  1. Select the Tags tab from the top right.
  2. Navigate to the folder containing the tag and click the tag.
  3. You will see a list of people within that tag. Click the remove icon to the right of the person you wish to remove.

Bulk Assign or Unassign People to Tags using the Action Panel

  1. Search People for those who you would like to tag, using a specific profile field by Selecting the People tab from the top left. 
  2. On the left, click Show More Filter Options.
  3. Select all of the criteria you would like to filter by. The results will show up on the right.
  4. Using the Action Panel select either Assign to Tags or Remove From Tags to bulk tag or untag the people who match your search parameters.

You can use this bulk action to assign or unassign tags anywhere the action panel is present.
