Printing Name Tags - DYMO (Troubleshooting DYMO Printers)

Encountering issues with printing name tags at check-in within Breeze? We'd love to help get this resolved for you.

Name Tags Won't Print

If you're encountering issues with Breeze not printing name tags, there are a few basic troubleshooting steps to walk through to establish that connection.

  1. Staring with the basics, lets make sure that you are using a Breeze-supported Dymo printer:
    • DYMO Label 450 (Wired)
    • DYMO Label 450 Turbo (Wired)
    • DYMO Label Wireless (Wireless)
  2. Check and make sure that the event is set up correctly to print labels.
    • This can be done by Clicking on the Event you are trying to print name tags from, and selecting Event Settings.
    • Under "Check In" within the Event Settings make sure that the checkbox that says "Print name tag at check in" i selected.Image_2020-08-13_at_3.37.29_PM.png
  3. Use the Printer Connection Tester to see if Breeze can diagnose the issue for you (Go to Events > On the calendar click the event settings (Image_2020-05-07_at_1.31.50_PM.png> Test Label Printer.  When running the Breeze Test Label Printer you should see any errors if there is a problem, helping you diagnose what is happening, if everything is set up properly you will see:

  4. Ensure that you are using the latest DYMO Label Software (version 8.7.4 for Windows; 8.7.4 for Mac)
  5. Ensure that you are able to print directly from the DYMO LabelWriter Software. (If you are unable to print from the software, you will need to contact DYMO Support to get this connection established. You can contact them here.)
Note : DYMO's best practice for uninstalling and re-installing the software would be to start by unplugging your DYMO printer first. Then continue by uninstalling the software, reinstalling and then following DYMO's prompts to turn on your printer when asked. This will ensure that all files from the older download will be removed properly. See steps 6 and 7 below.

Breeze is not compatible with Dymo's "Connect for Desktop" software recently released for Windows also known as Dymo Connect. Please use the links below for the Labelwriter Software.)

For Windows: You can download the latest version of the software that works with Breeze Click here for Windows DYMO LabelWriter Software.

For Mac: You can download the latest version of the software that works with Breeze here.

  6. Go to your event and attempt to check someone in. Check to see if the print request is making it to your printer queue. If it is but it's not printing, try disconnecting the printer's power and USB connection for 30 seconds and then plugging it back in. This will restart the printer.

  7.  Try uninstalling everything related to DYMO (DYMO Label Software and DYMO Web Service if you're using it), restarting your computer (an important step to complete the uninstall), and then reinstalling the DYMO Label Software.

  8. Try Troubleshooting by Clearing Cookies & Cache on your web browser.

  9.  If you're still unable to print after following the above steps, no worries! Contact us at support@breezechms.com or give us a call at 888.320.6030 and we'd be happy to help get this resolved for you.

Note:  If a new Tag is added, and then selected as eligible, you will also need to choose that Tag within the "print name tag at checkin" drop down before it will print.

Name Tags Printing Slowly

If your name tags are printing, however they're moving much slower than you would prefer, there are a few things to investigate and try!

  1. Ensure that you are using DYMO Label Software (version 8.7.3 for Windows; 8.7.4 for Mac)
Breeze is not compatible with Dymo's "Connect for Desktop" software recently released for Windows also known as Dymo Connect. Please use the links below for the Labelwriter Software.)

For Windows: You can download the latest version of the software that works with Breeze here.

For Mac: You can download the latest version of the software that works with Breeze here.

For some churches, their wireless networks receive a lot of traffic on Sunday mornings from everyone's smartphone connecting (or attempting to connect) to their network. To help determine if this is the cause, try checking someone in during a time when very few people are in the building.

  2. If in this test the name tag prints out quickly, it may be worth limiting public access to the wireless network. One of the following techniques may work well to resolve this:

    • Password-protecting the church wireless internet
    • Changing the access point to not broadcast the access point's name so devices can't even attempt to connect to it
    • Creating multiple networks (subnets) which partition bandwidth and throttle usage by device (more advanced)

If printing is slow during a time when few people are in the building, this points to the issue being between the computer and the printer itself. This can be due to:

    • An older computer being used
    • A lower-end (i.e. slower) computer being used
    • A computer that's also running many other tasks in the background
    • A bad install of the DYMO Label Software

    To resolve this:

    • Try hooking the printer up to a newer device to see how it compares.
    • Or try uninstalling and reinstalling the Dymo Labelwriter Software (see step 1 above).
  3. Try Troubleshooting by Clearing Cookies & Cache on your web browser.

  • Great question Elizabeth! Thanks for reaching out to our Forum.

Our printers have been designed to work with DYMO LabelWriter Shipping Labels, White, 2-5/16" x 4" (Purchase on Amazon). You can use any compatible off-brand label, however please note that using a non-DYMO label may void the warranty on your printer.  If using the Brother Ql-820NWB: DK-2205 printer, these are the labels that work: Breeze supports the following labels for the Brother Ql-820NWB: DK-2205 Continuous Paper Label Roll, 2.4” x 100 Feet (Purchase on Amazon)

  • Hi i'm using Ipads for check in and check out for older children.   Can I set up Ipad to simply check in and check out without having to use name tags?

  • Wanting to reprint children's tags and can't find a way. Even checking child out and rechecked in a new tag for the same event will not print.

  • Emily, thank you so much. Sadly, checking the child or and checking them back in didn't resolve the issue. Instead, upon the second check in, no tags printed.
Is there another way to reprint tags?
